SessionsWhat might a session involve?
The first session or two are often an “off load” of what’s been happening, what support or help you are wanting, and the making of a plan forward. ( I do check in at the end of the first session that we are both a "good fit", and that you are happy to continue working with me.) After this, a typical session may involve learning new skills or strategies to deal with things more helpfully, expressing or clarifying feelings, planning small steps, looking at habitual thinking or behaviour patterns, and working on changing these to more constructive ones, or doing a stock take of where you’re at and what you want your future to look like, amongst many other things. I continually check in to make sure you are feeling comfortable and happy in the approach we take. How many sessions do I come for? It is totally up to you. It may be that 2 to 3 sessions is all that is needed. The average tends to be around 6 to 8 sessions. I see clients for short, medium and long term. Sometimes after the initial issue has been generally resolved, clients like to have monthly “check in” support for a while. Others like to use counselling like mentoring - ongoing and regular support through their life. We regularly review how counselling is going for you. |
How long are the sessions for? How often?
Usually 50 to 60 minutes. Usually at the start it is helpful to see you weekly. When it is not so urgent, every second week may work for you. FeesMy fees in 2020 are $90.00 payable by cash at the end of the session, or internet banking deposited by the next day. For some, there may be financial assistance through WINZ. Call me to discuss.
